Are there special considerations of the science party or cruise scheduling?
Consider science time constraints; coordination of equipment shipping;
two-ship operations; weather windows; mooring turn-around; teaching schedules
and others that will affect scheduling decisions.
-------------------------------------------------
Deployment, operation, and recovery of the HOME Farfield Tomographic Array is
coordinated with other components of the HOME project. The tomographic array
will first be deployed north of the Hawaiian Ridge. It will subsequently be
recovered and redeployed south of the Ridge. R/P FLIP will be moored in the
center of the array shortly after it is moved south of the Ridge. The
operations are timed to coincide with acceptable weather windows north and
south of the Ridge for the deployment, recovery and redeployment, and final
recovery of the array. The entire deploymemnt is constrained by instrument
battery capacity to last about 12 months.
