These 8 days of ship time have been approved by Dave Epp and Sandy Shore at the
NSF. This is the second part of a multi-ship, multi-cruise/day series of
cruises. The first was abaord the New Horizon. This is a combination of a
student cruise and testing of seismic instrumentation. Two days of University
of California ship funds along with 6 days of NSF funds have been approved.
Special requrements: Crane for deployment/recovery of OBS equipment. Res-tech
to assist. The use of a trawl wire to lower a small instrument package upwards
of 1-2 km in depth. Rear a-frame with trawl wire to drag for equipment on the
seafloor.

Any reasonable sized trawal wich with wire. On one of the short cruises we
will require the cable to drag for an instrument which has failed to release
from the seafloor. Will also need trawl wire to send over 4x4x4' package for
acoustics tests.
