Are there special considerations of the science party or cruise scheduling?
Consider science time constraints; coordination of equipment shipping;
two-ship operations; weather windows; mooring turn-around; teaching schedules
and others that will affect scheduling decisions.
-------------------------------------------------
This up-date is to reflect the cruise being split into 2 legs, one in 2003 for
the MCS work and the other in 2004 dedicated to the Jumbo coring efforts.

Other Special Equipment; Equipment Requiring Special Handling, Storage or
Installation; Comments:
-----------------------
The second trip of this program will require 8 days of Jumbo Piston Coring.
With two weather contingency days, 10 science days are requested. Our
operations area is about 2 days transit from Stalvanger. Thus, a 14 day cruise
is requested. The cores will be collected by one of the NSF supported coring
groups (presumably the WHOI group). Space on deck for the MBARI geochemical
van is needed. The van requires 10 kw of 208 volt 3-phase electricity.
