Are there special considerations of the science party or cruise scheduling?
Consider science time constraints; coordination of equipment shipping;
two-ship operations; weather windows; mooring turn-around; teaching schedules
and others that will affect scheduling decisions.
-------------------------------------------------
We plans to conduct our scientific surveys on both day and night.

Other Special Equipment; Equipment Requiring Special Handling, Storage or
Installation; Comments:
-----------------------
AUV operations:
1. Request a small boat (perhaps RIB) and a boat operator:
A small boat will be used during AUV recovery, and also if AUV ends up in
shallow (where the ship can not navigate), we should have a capability to
recover AUV.
2. We plans to use crane for AUV deployment and retrieveal from the starboard
side, and we request space on the deck area on the starboard side; moving the
crane support colum to its fantail location.
3. We plan to track AUV position using ORE LXT tracking system:
LXT will be mounted on a pole extending below the hull on the starboard side.
During our recent visit to R/V New Horizon, we have exchanged our ideas of
construction and installation of such a pole with Mr. Bob Wilson.
We want to provide AUV position (distance and bearing relative to the ship) to
the bridge. We can split the LXT signal and route this data to the bridge. We
need a help from E-techs.
General:
ADCP - please provide 300 khz ADCP
Flow through sysyem: T/C sensors + flurometer;
Request VORTEX debubbler
Request pure water system for calibration of bio-optical sensors
Complete met package; we request short and longwave radiation sensors
For MiniBat operation: A-frame will be used; PIs will bring their own blocks,
cable, and winch
For Bio-optical free fall package: A-frame and capstans will be used; PIs will
bring their blocks and cables
