equipment: SIO seasoar, CTD, hydrographic sonar. This is a revised STR
attempting to accomodate ship scheduling difficulties in 2006. The two cruises
are locked to the spring/neap tidal cycle. The whole experiment can be shifted
back somewhat but the 15-day gap between the cruises is important. Science
days do not include 1.7 days transit to and from location for each cruise
(total 6.8 days). We require either the Pinkel sonar or the 38-KHz ADCP on the
KiloMoana. Realizing that the 15-day gap between the requested dates is
awkward for scheduling, I give 4 plans in decreasing order of preference. WE
PREFER TO BE FLEXIBLE RATHER THAN RISK DELAYING TO 2007. The plans are 1)
31-day and 12-day cruise on Revelle (plus transit), separated by 15 days.
2) Same but with 2nd leg on Kilo Moana.
3) Same but with second leg on Melville or Thompson (less preferable owing to
75-KHz versus 38-KHz)
4) Both cruises on Revelle but separated by more time.

Are there special considerations of the science party or cruise scheduling?
Consider science time constraints; coordination of equipment shipping;
two-ship operations; weather windows; mooring turn-around; teaching schedules
and others that will affect scheduling decisions.
