We request 6 dive days (5 collection days and 1 for weather). Only 1/2 of the
samples per site can be collected per dive because of the time required to
process samples aboard the ship and due to the limitations of ALVIN/ROV. We
assume that dives will be shared with other scientists such that each dive will
only comprise 1/2 dive day for our research. If the ROV is used, it is
essential that samples are elevated immediately after collection because the
symbionts and symbiont tissue deteriorates within a few hours of being
collected.
