transit. Additionally, CTD winch must be capable of casts to 6,000 meters.
Estimated funding for this cruise is approximately $750K.

Consider science time constraints; coordination of equipment shipping;
two-ship operations; weather windows; mooring turn-around; teaching schedules
and others that will affect scheduling decisions.

Due to area of operations, the final vessel determined to support FOCI must be
capable of operating in sea state 5, or greater. Operations will include
mooring deployments/recoveries; therefore, a Global Class Vessel must be used
in support of FOCI. Due to previous experiences, FOCI would not like to
consider R/V KILO MOANA as this vessel has limited capabilities in the Bering
Sea.
