I joined the faculty at the Graduate School of Oceanography in 1997. Most of my work involves studying how microorganisms perform in the marine environment. I look at bacterial biomass, activity and the genetic makeup of the community. I also continue to do work with viruses. These research efforts are divided between studying microbes in the WATER COLUMN and those in the SEDIMENTS.
