GSO Friends of Oceanography

From the singularly useful research that it has conducted on the Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island's beaches for more than half a century and critical scientific advances in hurricane prediction and climate change, to the tremendous excitement of GSO's new Inner Space Center and the promise of a new era of ocean exploration that it holds, GSO is a true gateway of knowledge to our oceans.

During GSO's 50th Anniversary year, the newly invigorated GSO Friends of Oceanography seeks to build strong ties between the School and its Rhode Island neighbors.

As a way of helping its members become better acquainted with the rich variety of GSO's programs and their impact on our state and nation, and as a way of recognizing their support, the following benefits are offered to those who participate:

Invitations to Friends special events and lectures, including an annual summer celebration.

Notice of the wide range of talks and lectures that are regular features of life at GSO, including special seating at selected presentations.

Special Friends campus tours, including tours and presentations of GSO's new Inner Space Center and the Center for Ocean Exploration and Oceanographic Archaeology.

Opportunities for informal conversations with members of GSO's faculty at a bi-monthly "Friends Table" in the cafeteria of GSO's newest Bay Campus facility.

Receipt of print and electronic publications associated with research and other activities taking place at GSO.

A 10% discount on all items sold in GSO's campus store and notice of all its sales.

Individual membership in the GSO Friends of Oceanography begins with a minimum annual contribution of $50. Other membership levels are available. For more information please email info@gso.uri.edu or call 401-874-6222.
