Areas of Specialization

Research

Brad Moran has over 17 years of experience in ocean-climate research, including Arctic oceanography, carbon dynamics, coastal groundwater transport, and environmental radioactivity. He has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and participated in 50 research cruises.

Teaching

Moran initiated the development of the new "Blue MBA" Masters of Business Administration-Masters of Oceanography (MBA-MO) dual degree, which has the goal of educating future leaders in the strategic management of global change opportunities; OCG 640 Marine Particles; OCG 694F Radionuclides in the Ocean; OCG 451 Oceanographic Science.

Outreach

Moran is regularly invited to science panels (NSF, NOAA) and workshops (AOS94, OASIS, SBI, FATE, ARCSS, GEOTRACES, BEST, BSIERP), has sponsored a number of high-school teachers at sea, has lectured as an IAEA Expert in marine radiochemistry, and has advised state, federal and international environmental organizations. He was recently charged with evaluating GHG emissions and energy costs at URI for the PresidentÂ’s Council on Sustainability. He curently serves as co-chair of the Environmental and Alternatve Energy Hot Team for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
