Areas of Specialization

Research

Application of U-series and artificial radionuclides as tracers of marine geochemical processes, including; Arctic oceanography, particle and carbon dynamics, coastal groundwater transport, environmental radioactivity. Fostering the economic development of energy and environmental research, technology, and education among University and private sector partners. Over 90 peer-reviewed journal and book publications, and participant in 60 research cruises.

Teaching

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Initiated the development of the "Blue MBA" Masters of Business Administration-Masters of Oceanography (MBA-MO) dual degree, which has the goal of educating future leaders in the strategic management of global change opportunities. COURSE DEVELOPMENT AND TEACHING: OCG 451 Oceanographic Science (co-taught with D.C. Smith); OCG 640 Marine Particles; OCG 694F Radionuclides in the Ocean.
