How can you make a difference?

Every homeowner, gardener, and landscaper can learn to avoid using invasive species and increase the use of native plants in the landscape.

Learn all you can about invasive plants. Beware especially of growing nonnative woody plants advertised as"Pest free...Easy to Grow... Rapid Grower."

Use native plants in your home landscape, and encourage nurseries to offer a greater selection of native plants. Local wildlife has co-evolved with native plants. By using native species you are helping to maintain local biodiversity.

Make sure your boat is free of aquatic vegetation and seeds if you launch it into a different body of water.

Dispose of aquarium plants and water in a compost heap, not into a pond or stream.---Lisa L. Gould
