Areas of Specialization

Research

I have worked on tephra samples from the Laki-Grimsvotn fissure eruption of 1783-1784, using major/minor/trace element composition, volatile concentrations and boron isotope ratios to investigate shallow level degassing in Iceland. I am currently working with Katie Kelley at URI GSO and Elizabeth Cottrell at the Smithsonian Institution, using XANES to examine ferric/ferrous iron ratios in natural basaltic samples from the Mariana arc.
