Figure 2. The next generation of coupled, ecological-physical-biogeochemical models will be developed through coordinated interdisciplinary research, ultimately resulting in models linked to observation systems. This figure shows how activities related to model development are complemented by work on procedures for implementation and validation. Results will be incorporated incrementally into the global community model.
