The Molecular Ecology Prep Lab is at ground level in the Durbin Marine Research Aquarium. It provides instrumentation for nutrient analysis, for sampling marine organisms, and for procedures in molecular biology.

 

Instruments

Stratagene Mx3005P  Quantitative PCR Machine with 5 channels,  Eppendorf  Thermocycler (2) PCR machines, Lachat nutrient autoanalyzer, Membrane Inlet Mass Spec, Turner 10-AU fluorometer, Nanodrop, incubated shaker, Spectra Max M5 microplate reader cuvette, benchtop autoclave.


Basic equipment

Vortex, stir plate, balances, micropipettes, small centrifuge, mini-centrifuge, homogenizer, sonicator, filtration manifold, water bath, orbital shaker tables, microwave, gel electrophoresis equipment, YSI probes, biospherical light sensor.


Basic facility

Chemical hood, laminar clean bench with UV light, DI and Millipore Ultra pure water, sink for marine life, refrigerator, freezer.
