Areas of Specialization

Research

Dan Codiga focuses primarily on estuarine, coastal, and shelf systems, with emphasis on their physical oceanography and fluid dynamics. A particular interest is flow impacted by continuous density stratification, and processes that determine vertical structure of currents, hydrographic properties, and water-borne materials. His main research approach is analysis of observations from moored instruments and ship-based surveys. He also has experience with real-time ocean observing systems, remote sensing, and rotating-table laboratory experiments. His recent work includes cross-disciplinary analyses of factors affecting water quality and fish habitat in estuaries, as motivated by the need for results applicable to resource management such as development of forecasting indices.
