Areas of Specialization

Research

Dave Hebert's current research interests involve the study of turbulence and other small-scale mixing processes, such as double-diffusion and intrusions, in the ocean and their influence on the larger-scale ocean dynamics and the ecosystem. He is examining isopycnal dispersion by mesoscale eddies using Lagrangian floats.

Teaching

Dave Hebert teaches a graduate course on descriptive physical oceanography.

Outreach

Dave is Chair of the University-National Oceanographic Laboratories System (UNOLS) Fleet Improvement Committee. He is also a member of the UNOLS Council and involved in many other aspects of the Academic Fleet renewal process.
